maoism
why want to abolish monarchy
(it's different from why they want to get rid of the king)
the present king killed the formoer king who happened to his brother
thus he could not gain the respect of the people
there had been a lot of versions about how the king died but the king was linked to the massacre
maoism --> linked to communism (bad?)
but why do the people support a seemingly outdated ideology
nepal palace massacre
To be emphasized to students:
It is important to use your own words to answer the question(if it is stated in the question)
It is not necessary to avoid every word in the sentence where the answer is found.
Identify the
key word that carries the meaning of the answer and use your own words to express that idea.
It is easier to remain fluent if you change the whole sentence rather than change that key word and keep the rest of the sentence! (DON'T FEEL INSECURE)
Repeating the root word in another form is not acceptable (eg "inspire" changed to "inspiring" is not acceptable
Switching word order is not acceptable (pretty and good --> good and pretty NOT ACCEPTABLE)
For all questions it is important to be relevant i.e. to address the question
(why? --> give reasons --> it is because) ( How? --> by XXX)
a tos specifies how many of each questions you must set
Distinguish the types of questions asked for:
a) literal recall (from text, According to the writer) exclude answers not found in the text
b) inference (between the lines, beyond the text, indirectly available) (infer, imply, suggest)
c) mixed questions (could be both of the above start with literall recall before inferring) -- use common sense
d) Vocabulary questions (for example why does the writer uses these words in describing nepal?)
e) mixed question of b and d where we have vocab plus inference

stockholm syndrome:
Stockholm syndrome is a
psychological response sometimes seen in an abducted hostage, in which the hostage shows signs of loyalty to the hostage-taker, regardless of the danger (or at least risk) in which the hostage has been placed. Stockholm syndrome is also sometimes discussed in reference to other situations with similar tensions, such as
battered person syndrome,
rape cases,
child abuse cases and
bride kidnapping. The syndrome is named after the
Norrmalmstorg robbery of
Kreditbanken at
Norrmalmstorg,
Stockholm,
Sweden, in which the bank robbers held bank employees hostage from
August 23 to
August 28 in
1973. In this case, the victims became emotionally attached to their victimizers, and even defended their captors after they were freed from their six-day ordeal. The term Stockholm Syndrome was coined by the
criminologist and
psychiatrist Nils Bejerot, who assisted the police during the robbery, and referred to the syndrome in a news broadcast
